One of eight known children and the only daughter born to Joshua Caudle and Elizabeth Green, Martha Christian Caudle was born in North Carolina - probably in Hillsborough, Chatham County, North Carolina. Her father, Joshua Caudle was from Chatham County, North Carolina. Her mother, Elizabeth Green was also from North Carolina.
By the 1820's the family had moved to Tennessee. Martha's parents left Maury County, Tennesee for Macoupin County, Illinois by 1830's taking most of her brothers. Married at 14 years of age to William Turner, They had twelve known children:

2. Elizabeth Ann Turner married Edward Roland Puckett; died in Franklin, Izard, Arkansas
3. William Wiley Turner married Rosetta Lacy; moved to Upshur County, Texas
4. Mary Caroline Turner married James A. Tillman
5. Sarah Jane Turner married James Gibson Freeland
6. Thomas H. Turner married Louiza Tennessee Smith; he died 1863 in East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana
7. Joshua C. Turner married Cynthia Ann Flenniken; moved to Upshur County, Texas; buried Simpsonville Cemetery
8. Elijah Mack Turner (who in some census is born in Illinois which makes sense since Martha's parents moved there) married Parthenia Caroline Flenniken (sister to Cynthia above); moved to Upshur County, Texas; buried Enon
9. Talitha Millege Turner; moved to Upshur County, Texas(with brothers Joshua and Elijah Mack); marries George Washington Petty; buried Enon Cemetery in Upshur Co., TX
10. Martha Turner married Jesse Andrews; moves to Missouri; buried Burdett Cem. Douglas County, Missouri
