Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Haverly Mortuary for Everett E. Phillips of Lawrenceport, 67. Mr. Phillips died at 11:45 a.m. Saturday at his home on Lawrenceport of a heart attack, shortly after getting in a load of wood.
The Rev. Dearl Cooper officiated in the funeral rites, and burial was in Mitchell Cemetery.
Mr. Phillips was born in Martin County on May 27, 1891, to Isaac L. and Susan Hall Phillips. His first marriage was to Miss Lela Hixon. He was next married to Mrs. Virgie Shoopman, who passed away October 18, 1956. Later he was married to Mrs. Rhoda Fletcher, who survives.
Mr. Phillips was a farmer, and also retired employee of the Lehigh Portland Cement Company. He retired in 1956.
Surviving with the wife are a son. Wayne of Bedford, a daughter. Mrs. Geneva Young of Marion, two grandchildren, a brother, Sanford Phillips of Mitchell, and a sister, Mrs. Lucy Cooper of Mitchell.
