Melvin Mitchell was married to Minnie McKibben's sister, Mattie McKibben. This is verified by the 1920 census. Her father was John Henry McKibben and her mother was Lucy I. Bunch.

Note: So far, I haven't found the 1920 census referred to, but seeing as how Minnie died 1918, he may have also married her sister Mattie by 1920.
