Henry Douglas is the son of Burrell Douglas (1825-1884) and Mary Ann Strickland (1830-1869) that are buried in unmarked graves in Mt Plesant Cemetery in Waycross, Ware County, Georgia.

Although Henry Douglas' headstone clearly states he was born in 1842, it is in error. His parents were married in 1843. The 1850 census does not list Henry as a child; just the 2 older children, James R. & Nancy Douglas are listed. The 1860 census has Henry born about 1853 as the 4th child of the family. The 1870 census has Henry born about 1852. The same goes for his wife, Polly Ann Strickland; her headstone clearly states she was born in 1848, it is in error. The 1870 and 1880 Ware county census states she was born about 1856-1858. In 1850 her mother, Sarah Ann Abbritton was still living at home with her parents. Her parents were married about 1857, and Polly Ann Strickland was born about 1858. Both of their birth years are off by 10 years each too early. Henry Douglas was known as "the man who would sweat blood." Several family members of that time witnessed this happening to him. This story is mentioned in a book entitled "Magic of the Wilderness". This is a book about the history and the people of Ware County, GA and it's surrounding areas.

Henry Douglas (1852-1936) was the husband of Polly Ann Strickland (1858-1923). They were married on 13 Oct 1875 in Ware County, Georgia. Together they had nine (9) known children:

- Vina Viney Douglas (1876-1942); married James Sylvester Boyett (1875-1958).

- Rosa Douglas (1877-1944); married Alphonzo McFoid Strickland (1876-1949).

- Julia Douglas (1880-1930); married James Keightly Strickland (1873-1921).

- Mary Elizabeth Douglas (1883-1966); married Malachi Isiah Hagin (1884-1961).

- W. Burrell Douglas (1884-1908).

- Sarah Jane Douglas (1886-1956); married Pleasant Dempsey Mercer (1884-1964).

- James Henry Douglas (1888-1965); married Maude Strickland (1895-1968).

- Ella Lee Douglas (1891-1956).

- John Mathew Douglas (1895-1964); married Agnes Strickland (1909-1940).
