Frank W. Rhines was born at Augusta, Maine, July 9, 1865. On May 31, 1943 he was stricken with paralysis and was taken to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein, later taken to Mosher Convlaescent Home in Strawberry Point, where he passed away July 9, 1943 on his seventy-eighth birthday.

He was married to Miss Frankie Whitney in November 1890. They made their home here for severalk years,where they engaged in the jewelry business. He was a graduate of Peoria Watch School in Peoria, Illinois. Later they moved to Kabipel, Montana, but in a few years, the family returned to Lamont where he has since resided. To this union were born three children, two sons, David W., and Edward J., one daughter, who died in infancy. Feb. 19, 1932, Mrs. Rhines passed away.

Mr. Rhines joined the Campton Baptist Church when a young man. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge. He always took an active part inanything for the good of the community and was mayor of Lamont for two terms at one time. He leaves to mourn his passing, two sons, David W. of Edgewood and Edward J., of Oelwein, six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, two brothers, Charles of Fayette and Louis of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Burgin of Strawberry Point and Mrs. Sara Phelps of Manchester.

Funeral services were conducted from the Rhines Funeral HOme Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. B.H. ThomLarkson and Rev. R.E. Hodgkin, officiating. Mrs. Reuben Carr and Mrs. Carl Durham sang, accompanied on the piano by Mrs. John Ehler. Pallbearers were F.A. Toms, Arthur Boden, Fred Lyons, Ferd Heiserman, William O'Brien and Joe Emmert. Interment was made in the family lot at Campton Cemetery.

Wick, Mr. Louis Rhines of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. and Mrs. Clark Tyrell, Mr. and Mrs. DonRhines, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Begen of Edgewood, Mrs. Roy Troupe, Mrs. Marvel Wyant, Mrs. Mayme Anderson of Strawberry Point.
