He was a surgeon for the Police & Fire Bureaus of Utica under the administration of Mayor Bradbury German. He was also a surgeon to the New York Central Railroad and attending surgeon at both the former St. Luke's and General Hospitals.
He was a member of the Oneida County Medical Society, the Utica Academy of Medicine, and the Medical Society of New York.
