W. Clive Brunton of 835 N. Kansas, East Wenatchee, a resident of Wenatchee Valley for the past 70 years, died Friday afternoon, September 16 at his home.
Mr. Brunton was born on March 25, 1893 at Ozawkie, Kansas, and the family moved to North Dakota, and later Idaho. They later moved to Oregon, and in 1907 the family moved to Wenatchee.
During WWI, he served in the U.S. Army. On November 23, 1918, he was married to Cora E. Brammell at Topeka, KS. Following his discharge they returned to the Wenatchee Valley Where he operated a fruit orchard in East Wenatchee until 1935 when they moved to Grand Coulee.
In 1936 they moved to Leavenworth where they purchased a fruit orchard which he operated until his retirement in 1958, at which time they moved to East Wenatchee, where he has since resided. Mr. & Mrs Brunton celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1968.
He was a member of the Wenatchee Brethren Baptist Church United and the Rocky Reach Barracks, Veteran of WWI. Mr. Brunton is survived by his wife of the family home; three sons, Max Brunton of Portland Oregon, Dr. Delbert Brunton of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and Phillip Brunton of Leavenworth; two brothers; William Brunton of Carson City, Nevada, and Frank Brunton of East Wenatchee; Mrs. Clara Baylee and Mrs. Harry (Jennie) Smith, both of Cashmere; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two sisters, and one grandson.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 o'clock Tuesday, September 20 on the Wenatchee Brethren Baptist Church United, with Pastor Albert Sauls officiating. Organist Clarence Schoop accompanied Mr. Lynn Heminger, "How Great Thou Art" and "In the Garden". Pall Bearers were Les Kile, Ivan Hougham, Lowell Sperline, Randy Wood, Ralph Nakata, and Charles Barnhart. Concluding services and interment followed in the Evergreen Memorial Park in East Wenatchee.
