Rosamond was the daughter of John Purmort and Sarah Walworth Purmort(descendant of William Brewster of the Mayflower) of Jay, New York. While in Jay, NY she married Joel Peck, son of Joshua and Rachel Mallory Peck. Joel was an ordained Baptist minister. Joel and Rosamond sold their land in Jay for the benefit of the First Baptist Church, where the present day church was built 1830. The Pecks were living in Illinois in 1838 situated at Bear Creek near Plainfield, Illinois where Joel died in 1839. Rosamond and her children James H., Judson, Phineas, John W., and Mary Peck Boynton returned to Jay to live with her family the John Purmorts. She received a land bounty for 160 acres in 1851 and a widow's pension in 1878 for Joel's service in the War of 1812. Rosamond and family returned to Illinois(Henderson, County) sometime after 1851. After Mary's marriage to Earl Baron Boynton, Rosamond lived with her daughter's family in Homer, Iowa until her death in 1879. The 1880 Federal Census, Iowa Mortality Schedule listed Rosamond having died at her home (Hamilton Co.) due to dyspepsia at age 81 in September of 1879.
