Walter Bert Atkinson, 73, of Kimberly, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, July 22, 2008.

Bert was born in Victor on Nov. 7, 1934, to Walter D. and Bernice Atkinson. After graduating high school in 1954, Bert went on his LDS Mission in Colorado. He then served in Korea from 1957 to 1959, where he received many awards.

After serving in the military, Bert relocated to the Kimberly area, where he had seven sons and worked in the produce business.

For the past 25 years, he worked in the construction business.

Bert is survived by his sisters, Ardella (Jack) Berry and Helen (Weston) Ripplinger; brothers, Leroy (Charlene) Atkinson, Don (Kristi) Atkinson, Steve (Jo) Atkinson and Keith (Jackie) Atkinson; his sons, Barry (Diane) Atkinson, Bruce (Sheryl) Atkinson, Brent (Julie) Atkinson, Bryan (Julie) Atkinson, Shaun Atkinson, Nick Atkinson and Rowdy (Shanna) Atkinson; and 16 grandchildren.
