Monday, July 31, 1995, JOPLIN GLOBE Obituary:

Roy E. Francisco, 67, Joplin route 3, died at 8 p.m. Saturday at his home after a short illness.

Mr. Francisco was born December 14, 1927, near Oswego in Labette County, Kansas. He had lived in Joplin since 1952. He was graduated in 1945 from Labett County Community High School at Altamont, Kansas. He owned and operated Francisco Excavating Company in Joplin for 40 years. During that time, he also worked 25 years with Missouri American Water Company until he retired in 1982.

He was a member of Wood Hills Christian Church, Joplin, and was a charter member of College Heights Christian Church. He served six years in the Merchant Marines and was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

He married Nancy Berner on January 11, 1987, in Joplin. She survives.

Also surviving are two stepdaughters, Odessa Lawrence and Ruby Adamson, both of Joplin; his father, Edgar Francisco Sr., Altamont; three brothers, Edgar Francisco Jr., Alsey, Illinois, William Francisco, Arlington, Texas and Earl Francisco, Joplin; nine grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

The body will be cremated. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at College Heights Christian Church. B.A. Austin, Sonny Black and Ron McMillan, ministers, will officiate.

Contributions may be made to Wood Hills Christian Church in care of Ila Black, Route 10, Box 960, Joplin, Missouri, 64804.

Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary, Joplin. (End of obit).

Roy E. Francisco was preceded in death by his mother, Hulda Bell (Norrick) Francisco and his wife of thrity-four years, Dorothy J.(Curry) Brown - Francisco.

Roy Francisco and Dorothy (Curry) Brown - Francisco, were married June 15, 1952, in Madison County, Arkansas.

Roy Francisco succumbed to lung cancer.
