DUCHESNE CO., UTAH - Funeral services for Joseph Nephi Seely, 81, early pioneer of this city, who died Friday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Effie Collett, in Roosevelt. Utah. were held today at 2 p.m. in the North ward chapel. Bishop H. P. Olsen in charge.
Joseph Seely was born in Pleasant Grove on March 5, 1853, a son of Bishop William S. and Elizabeth D. H. Seely
He moved to Indianola in 1874, where he engaged in farming and stock raising. He married Cecelia Winters of Mt. Pleasant, Utah, June 9, 1879.
In 1891 he moved to Fairview, UT, where he resided until 1909. when he moved with his family to Chester Idaho. In 1917, he returned to Mt. Pleasant.
Surviving him are: One daughter, Mrs. Effie Collett; three sons, Joseph Hyrum, Maxwell D. and Dean W Seely. all of Roosevelt; a sister, Mrs. Emmaline S. Barton, and a half-sister, Mrs. Jesse Peterson, both of Mt. Pleasant; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
