Maud is the third daughter (5th of 8 children) born to Isiah Palmer and Elizabeth M. "Libbie" Strayer. The Palmer family was from Ohio and probably Pennsylvania; the Strayer family is still being researched but definitely was from the "Pennsylvania Dutch" settlement of William Penn. Libbie's father, Adam Gibe Strayer, was a friend of Chief Okemos, a well-known figure from the Saginaw / Grand River Band of the Chippewa (Ojibway) Indian tribe, in the mid-1800s when the family moved from Ohio to Meridian Township.

Maud's siblings are:

1) Volney Adam Palmer (1876-1948) m. Nettie Maria Stotts (5 ch.)

2) Bertha Elizabeth Palmer (1878-1953) m. 1st John C. Arend (1 ch.); m. 2nd Joseph D. Rankey (1 ch.); m. 3rd Warren Carl Warner (no ch.)

3) Vern Isaiah Palmer (1879-1960) m. 1st Zelma Hopkins (5 ch.); m. 2nd Carrie McLaughlin (no ch.); m. 3rd Carolyn --- (no ch.); m. 4th Lepha M. (Bunker) Walton (no ch.)

4) Margaret (Maggie) L. Palmer (1881-1882) Died in infancy

5) Ada M. Palmer (1885-1967) m. 1st William Eckhart (1 ch.); m. 2nd Dr. Wilson J Canfield (no ch.); m. 3rd Clifton Glee Casner (no ch.)

6) Lovina "Vina" A. Palmer (1888-1944) m. Enoch H. Field (1 ch.)

7) Irene K. Palmer (1900-1958) m. 1st Daniel R Smiley (2 ch.); m. 2nd Harry G Andree (2 ch.)

Maud became the wife Warren Carl Warner (she lists his name affectionately as "Carlos" on their marriage certificate. They had four daughters:

1) Ruth Warner (1902-1902); died in infancy

2) Adah Lavone Warner (1903-1988) m. 1st Merton B. Collins (1 ch.); m. 2nd Severin Jean (no ch.)

3) Fern Irene Warner (1910-1981) m. 1st Lawrence J. Jean (4 ch.); m. 2nd Emery Clemens (no ch.)

NOTE: Sisters Adah and Fern Warner married brothers Severin and Lawrence Jean

4) Carol I. Warner (1918-1987) m. Kenneth B. Lawson (2 ch.)

Sadly, Maud died of uterine cancer at her home on Barnes Road in Aurelius in 1924, when her eldest (living) daughter Adah had just married six months before, and left Carl a widower with two young girls. Fern turned 14 the day after her mother's death, and Carol turned six about two weeks after her mother's death.

15 months after Maud's passing, Carl married her sister Bertha Elizabeth (Palmer) Rankey, on 18 Jun 1925, and raised Bertha's daughter Margaret Rankey.

Note: Per the original birth certificate in my (Debra Hart Blackgrave Tyre) possession, the spelling of Maud's name is as shown above, not as the stone or death certificate shows. The death certificate does reveal her middle name as "Anna," which was presumed but not shown elsewhere on documents.
