ALVORD, VAN PATTEN
The many friends in Davenport of Mrs. Nancy Alvord, relict of Mr. C. C. Alvord, will regret to hear of her death which occurred in San Diego, Cal. on the 18 inst. at the age of 75 years, 3 mos and 4 days. She was a member of the Scott County Pioneers Association, having come to Davenport in about 1839 or 1840.
She was the sister of Mr. John P. Van Patten, of this city and Mr. Alvord was long his partner in the wholesale grocery business, finally selling his interest in the firm of Alvord and Van Patten to Maj. Marks.
Mr. Alvord moved to Denver about fifteen years ago, where he resided til his death last summer. Mrs. Alvord then joined a daughter living San Diego.
Our older citizens knew Mrs. Alvord well in her estimable qualities and will grieve to hear of her death. The remains will arrive here next Thursday norming on the 4.40 train. Interment at Oakdale.
