Earl R. Davis, 46, of 1208 Bluff who became ill while at work in the Keokuk Electro-Metals plant Monday was pronounced dead on arrival at Graham hospital at 7 p.m.
He had been in failing health for four years.
Born December 8, 1917 in Quincy he was the son of Dave and Bertha Beard Davis. He came to Keokuk as a baby and except for a few years in Kentucky had lived here since. He was an oiler at the Electro-Metals Co.
On July 23, 1943 in Kahoka he married Darlene Doris Stark.
A World War II veteran he entered service July 4, 1942 in Des Moines and spent 20 months in England and France, cooking at a Station Hospital and Convalescent center. He was discharged in December of 1945 at Camp Crowder, Mo.
Surviving are his wife, four daughters, Delta, Carla [sic], Earlene and Alitha of Keokuk, his mother Mrs. Bertha Davis of Keokuk, a sister, Mrs. John (Florella) Vermeesch of Keokuk and nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Schmidt Memorial Home with the Rev. B. Lawrence Sweeney officiating. Military rites will be held in the National cemetery.
