Bill was born July 21, 1937 to Jessie James and Elsie Gertrude Barrett in Kingsport, TN, where he received his education.
He went to work with his brother, Del, in Morristown, TN, at the age of 16 as a glazier. Bill married his wife Stella Mae Keith on April 15, 1955 at Morristown, TN. When he was 18, he was recruited by Wenatchee Paint & Glass where he worked until 1967. It was during this time that they were blessed with the birth of their two children, Don and Mark. They then moved back to Tennessee for 2 years. In March of 1969, they moved back to East Wenatchee, where he worked with Fuller O'Brien Glass until 1975. He then went into business with his brother Del as a partner in Omak Paint & Glass until 1985, when he took over the business which he operated with his wife until 1997. His pastor, Mike Wilson, of Okanogan Valley Nazarene Church began to operate the business where Bill worked until the day before his death.
He enjoyed his family, his church family, fishing, woodworking, and his work. On many occasions, Stella tried to get Bill to retire but he said he enjoyed it too much to stop.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Stella; son Don and wife Patti of Kennewick; son Mark and wife Jennifer of Omak; six grandchildren: Derrick, Ryan, Rachel, Kayla, Shaila, and Brianna; four brothers and three sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002 at 10:30 a.m., at the Okanogan Valley Nazarene Church, located at 2530 Elmway in Okanogan. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Okanogan Valley Nazarene Church.
