KINGSPORT Elsie
Gertrude "Gertie" Hensley Bar-
rett, 90, of Rock Springs Road,
Kingsport, died Thursday at
Wellmont Holston Valley Med-
ical Center after an extended ill-
ness.
Mrs. Barrett was born in
Greene County, a daughter of the
late John N. and Lydia McCamey
Hensley. She had lived in Sulli-
van County most of her life.
She was a member of Macedo-
nia Free Will Baptist Church.
Mrs. Barrett was the widow of
J.J. Barrett Sr.
Survivors include three
daughters and sons-in-law: Thel-
ma and Wayne Parton of Arden
N.C., and Barbara and Glen Hite
and Judy and Buster Smith, all
of Kingsport; five sons and
daughters-in-law: Paul and Jean
Barrett and James and Bobbie
Barrett, all of Kingsport, B. Lynn
and Fave Barrett of Grav, Del-,
mar and Donna Barrett of Con-
conully,.Wash., and Bill and Stel-
la Barrett of Omak Wash' 18
grandchildrer:;30 great-grand-
chIldren.; eight great-great-
grandchIldren; a sister: Frances
Chase of Kingsport; and several
nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends
from 6-8-Sunday evening at
Hamlett~Dobson Funeral Home I
downtown, and other
times at the home. .
The funeral service will follow
Visitation at 8 o'clock in the
funeral home chapel. The Rev
Russell Payne, Dr. Ed C. DiIIowe
and Joe Shelton, pastor will officiate '
A graveside service will be
held a 1 o'clock Monday in Lib-
erty HIlI Cemetery.
