He was a U.S. Air Force Pilot in the Korean War, retiring as Captain. He was a member of the Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow.
He was born April 9, 1928, at Chicago, Illinois, to Ernest L. and Elizabeth Stevenson Ives. He married Adrienne Osborne on June 23, 1954 at Lake Forrest, Illinois. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughter, Alison A. Ives and Sandra I. (William) Powell; one son, Thomas O. (Wendy) Ives; and eight grandchildren.
His parents preceded him in death.
He was chairman and past president of Bloomington Broadcasting Inc., retiring in 1988.
He was an active supporter of many community organizations, including serving as Director and President of McLean County Historical Society; Bloomington Unlimited; the Association of Commerce; the National Radio Broadcasters Association; and the Bloomington Country Club.
He was also was a Director of the Daily Pantagraph.
