John Christian Hall was born on the Isle of Raegan in the North Sea, in Europe (which does not exist, to my knowledge, in the Find A Grave locations for birth and death. I've been attempting to enter his birthplace using modern locations, have not been successful yet. Any suggestions are appreciated!) He was born on August 30, 1859, the son of Christian Hall and Caroline H. Hall. His family immigrated to America when he was only six years of age, in @1866. His family settled in Pike Township, Atalissa, Muscatine County, Iowa. When his parents spoke with the census taker in 1870, they stated they were from Prussia, which no longer exists, either. He eventually married Julia Dittrick, a native of Austria. They were living in Nebraska when a daughter, Elizabeth Hall Ackerman, was borne of their union. They relocated one last time to Oregon where he became a Nurseryman in North Albany, Benton County, Oregon. He developed stomach cancer and died at Albany General Hospital on June 7th, 1942, ten years after the death of his beloved wife. They are buried together at the Masonic Cemetery in Albany, Linn County, Oregon, sharing a headstone. Elizabeth joined them in death in 1960 and is also buried at the Masonic Cemetery under her married name, Elizabeth Hall Ackerman. May they all Rest, at Peace, together.
