Thomas' obituary is as follows:

"FARMER EXPIRES AT HOME SUNDAY - Rites For Lon Taylor At Dover Tuesday - In failing health for several months, Lon Taylor, 74 years old, died at his home near Pleasant View, west of Lebanon, Sunday morning at 7:30 o'clock. Death was attributed to complication of diseases.
The funeral will be conducted from the Christian church at Dover, of which he was a member, Tuesday morning at 10:30 o'clock, the Rev. Ora McDaniel of Advance officiating. Burial will be in the Dover cemetery.
Mr. Taylor was born in this county and spent all of his life in the Hazelrigg and Pleasant View neighborhoods. He was a well known farmer and was held in high esteem by a host of relatives, friends and neighbors. He had lived on the farm where he died since 1900. It is known as the old Alford Beck place.
He was a son of the late James L. and Martha E. (Utter) Taylor. He was married in Boone county in September of 1879 to Mary E. Caldwell who survives. Other survivors are two children, Ray and Orval Taylor, both living near Pleasant View; six brothers, Albert T. Taylor and DeWitt C. Taylor, of near Thorntown, William N. Taylor, of near Manson, George P. Taylor, Indianapolis, Frank H. Taylor, Fortville, Ind., and Abraham S. Taylor of this city; and seven grandchildren. A daughter, Rosa Ellen Taylor, died March 24, 1885 at the age of sixteen months; and three brothers, John W., Hiram J. and Charles E. Taylor and a sister, Maude Hollis, also preceded him in death."
