Nancy Evaline was born July 5, 1858 the daughter of Stephen and Eliza Caroline (Gose) Cundiff at Broke Leg, Morgan County, Kentucky. Her family was living at Lick Creek at the time. (Eliza's parents, James and Jane Gose owned land at Broke leg Creek so she may have been born at their home). She was most likely named after her Mother's twin sister Nancy Evaline Gose.
On May 29,1874 Evaline married Leander Noble Downey in Fleming County, Kentucky. Leander the son of William and Sarah (Skinner) Downey was born June 18, 1836 in Fleming County, Kentucky. Probably because of his middle name being Nobel he sometimes went by "Noble", "Obie", "Obediah" and even "Lee" when he was young. I believe his family called him "Obie".
By 1910 the family had moved to Franklin Township, Warren County, Ohio.
Evaline passed away August 20, 1911 at Middletown, Butler County, Ohio and was returned to Bath County and buried in the Dickerson Cemetery.
She shares the Headstone with her daughter Carlotta "Caroline" and son Clyde.
Evaline's Birth date on the headstone was listed as July 4, 1859 but was actually July 5, 1858.
