"Newton Lucas Is Called By Death
Prominent Antioch Farmer
Answers Final Summons After Illness, Culminated by Stroke of Paralysis

Newton Lucas, a prominent farmer of Clinton county, died at his home west of Antioch at 7:30 o'clock last night. Death resulted from a stroke of paralysis which followed an attack of heart disease suffered about a week before.

He was bedfast with neuralgia of the heart when the fatal stroke came last Saturday evening. For a time he improved slightly and then steadily declined until his death.

He would have observed his 66th birthday anniversary on December 16 having been born on that date in 1846. He was a life long resident of Clinton county, having been a native of Jackson township.

He was the son of Lewis and Elizabeth Lucas, who were early settlers of the county. He was married to Miss Mary Snyder of Cincinnati on December 13, 1877.

The widow and six children survive. They are: Bert R., Walter R., Mrs. Ada Woofendale, Clifford H., Mrs. Ola Peters, and Buren Lucas all of Clinton county. Three brothers and one sister are the other relatives. They are: John, Amos, and Louis Lucas and Mrs. Anna Reagan.

Two brothers and two sisters preceeded him to the spirit world: Mrs. Lizzie Mundell, Miss Ida Lucas, William and Thomas Lucas.

He was a member of the Masonic order of Frankfort. For many years he was a member of the Antioch Christian church. He was highly esteemed by all who knew him.

The funeral will be held from the Antioch church Friday afternoon at one o'clock, conducted by Rev. Stover and Q. A. Kennedy.

Interment will be at Greenlawn cemetery."
