Mr. Charles Henry Schnlken Passed Away at His Home in This City Last Night Time of Funeral Has Not Been Decided Upon.
Mr. Charles Henry Schulken, a well known citizen of this city, passed away at his home, No. 406 North Fourth street, last night at 11:40 from Bright' disease. He had been in bad health for some months but his condition had only been regarded as critical for the past few days He recently went to Philadelphia to have a noperation performed and returned last Monday a week ago. He appeared to be much imroved and his friends hoped that he might recover.
The late Mr. Schulken was born in Chicago on June 22, 1850, and consequently was in his 56th year. He had spent most of his life in Wilmington and married Miss Alice Moore Petteway, who survives him and also eight children, six boys, Carl H., Eugene P., Arthur, Edward, Roger and Sherman Schulken. Two daughters are Misses Elizabeth and Alice Schulken. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. R. E. VanLear, of Portsmouth, Va.
For many years Mr. Schulken was connected with the business of Mr. H. L. Vollers and was last with the Ormfield Company, of Fayetteville. His health has been such for the past six months that he could do no work.
The deceased was a Pythian and also a member of one of the local councils Royal Arcanum. He was a consistent member of Grace M. E. church.
The time of the funeral has not yet been decided upon.
