Richard D. "Dick" Moore, 67, 101 S. Market St., Martinsburg, went home to be with the Lord Friday morning at Nason Hospital, Roaring Spring, after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Huntingdon, son of Ralph N. "Candy" and Miriam (Bergstresser) Moore. He married Elouise D. Thomas Jan. 28, 1961, in Saxton.

Surviving are his wife; two sons: Mark S. (wife, Penny) of Mechanicsburg and Michael T. (wife, Darla) of Richfield, Ohio; a daughter, Tammy J. Titter (husband, Wally) of Buffalo Mills; his mother of Saxton; five grandchildren: Adrienne Sheffer (husband, Andrew), Chelsea Moore, Justin Moore, Aaron Moore and Eva Moore; a brother, Harold T. "Tim" (wife, Donna) of Valhalla, N.Y.; and two nephews: Todd and Daniel Moore. He was preceded in death by his father in 1986.

Mr. Moore was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Martinsburg, where he formerly served on the church consistory and the Men's Brotherhood.

He owned and operated Dick's Barber Shop, Martinsburg, since 1961, served as the mayor of Martinsburg Borough from 1970-98 and was a former part-time employee of John C. Bolger Funeral Home Inc.

Mr. Moore was a 1958 graduate of Saxton-Liberty High School, Saxton, and a 1960 graduate of Harrisburg Barber School.

He enjoyed boating, camping and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Mr. Moore was a founding member and former director of Martinsburg Community Housing Authority, a member of Woodbury Lodge 539 of F&AM, Roaring Spring, and former member of Morrisons Cove Republican Club.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at St. John's United Church of Christ, Martinsburg, where a Masonic service will be held at 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. James S. Thomas officiating. Interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. John's United Church of Christ, Martinsburg Community Library, Martinsburg Volunteer Fire Company or Hollidaysburg Ambulance Club.
