Mary Plaisted was born in Piedmont, Alameda,California, USA to Frank Hughey Plaisted and Grace Isabel Pratt. She had an older brother, Joseph Osgood. She married Max Hugh Asutin about 1945. They did not have any children. Mary was a well known artist in the San Diego area. She studied art with her aunt, Jessie Plaisted. Mary died in Pauma Valley, San Diego, California, USA and is buried in the Potrero Indian Cemetery.
