His name was listed as Wiett and Wyatt in his war records, and his grandfather was a Wyatt Ogle.
He served in the Civil War from Livingston Co., Missouri in Company G., 18th Missouri Home Guard Infantry Volunteers. Soon after he enlisted he became ill due to exposure and was granted a leave to return to his father's home and died of Typhoid Fever at the age of 23. Wiett married Elizabeth Ann Minnick 7 June, 1860 in Daviess Co., Missouri and had a daughter Nancy Ann Blann, born 30 June, 1861. Nancy was only five months old when her father died.
His tombstone has been broken in half, but the top part clearly shows that he is the son of Zachariah and Kisiah Blann. The stone shows he died on 18 November, 1861, but his military information states he died on November 23rd.
His wife later filed for a Widow's Pension #118,309, but in later years Elizabeth Ann gave up the pension income when she married William Pleasant McClure on December 27, 1878 in Daviess Co., Missouri.
