Judge Hockaday's Sister Dies- Mrs. Amelia Stephens, widow of the late J. L. Stephens, died at her home in Columbia yesterday afternoon after a short illness at the age of 77 years. Mrs. Stephens was formerly of Fulton, Callaway county, and was a sister to the late Judge John A. Hockaday. Mrs. Stephens' husband was one of the pioneer citizens of Central Missouri and during his lifetime gave more than $100,000 to various charitable and educational enterprises. He endowed Stephens college at Columbia and the college is named for him. Mrs. Stephens leaves two children, E. W. Stephens, of Columbia, editor and publisher of the Columbia Herald, and Mrs. S. K. Smith, who formerly lived in St. Louis, but is now a resident of Columbia. The funeral will be held tomorrow.
