Charles was second of four children of James G Mustin and his first wife Mary Jane Hastings. He married Emma Mustin. They lived in Pittsburgh where in 1896 Charles was a travel agent.

Pfc. Charles Mustin served June 1863 to discharge Dec 1863.

He was institutionalized in 1897 for lumbago and kidney problems.
