arland, UT – Marilyn Leda Austin Belnap, 72. died Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at her home in Garland, Utah. She was born June 4, 1934, in Garland, Utah. Marilyn was the sixth child of Howard Loveless and Leda Leona Hunsaker Austin. She married Veloy Hall Belnap on March 17, 1954. On September 20, 2003; their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. He died June 21, 2004.
Marilyn's early years were enjoyed in the small town of Garland. In the spring of 1945, Marilyn moved with her mother to Salt Lake City. For a short time Marilyn enjoyed the city life and attended both East and West High School. Marilyn longed for the country living her home town provided and she returned to Garland.
Marilyn worked for the Garland Café and enjoyed many fond memories waitressing for Mel and Roma. It was here where she met her eternal companion and sweetheart, Veloy. She was also employed by Adam's Drug Store in Tremonton. Marilyn's true love for living came from being a full time homemaker, caring for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Her hobbies included occasional writing and working in her garden. Mostly she enjoyed her family and friends.
Marilyn was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She thoroughly enjoyed being a Relief Society Visiting Teacher.
Our wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Veloy Hall Belnap. Marilyn is survived by her two sons: Scott Allan Belnap of Garland, Brian Veloy Belnap (Bradley Tomlinson), Salt Lake City; three grandchildren: Jamie Jean (Brady) Adams; Jackie Scott (Troy) Stoudnor, Jeremiah Scott Belnap; three great granddaughters: Mikayla Mary Adams, Trinity J. Stoudnor and Toree J. Stoudnor.
Also surviving are two brothers: Jack Marion Austin (Leona Potter Austin), Garland, Utah, Monte Ray Austin (Margie Roberts Austin), Tremonton, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Keith Howard Austin (Valaine), Tremonton, Utah, Kenneth Howard Austin (Voris), Garland, Utah, and one sister, Beverly Rose Boss (Kenneth), Garland, Utah.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2006 at 12:00 (noon) at the Garland Third and Fourth Ward Church, 175 South Main, Garland. Family will meet friends at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton on Friday from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. The family will also receive friends from 10:30 – 11:40 a.m. Saturday at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Garland Cemetery.
