According to the 1898 Voter List of Winn Parish, J.B. says he is 22, white, living near Sills, LA, is a farmer, born in 1875 and is the son of Franklin Bass. He married Martha Virginia Floyd in Winn Parish March 18, 1900. They later moved to what would become LaSalle Parish. Family legend says he caught pneumonia from his son Burnis and died from it.
