Thaymon Johnson went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002 in LaGrande, Ore. He was 88.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002 at Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of Rice Funeral Service. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Thaymon was born Oct. 25, 1913 in Springdale, Ark., to Sam and Ollie Sizemore Johnson. He married Ethel Denton on Nov. 27, 1932 in Talala, Okla. They were married for 55 years before her passing in July of 1988. He was a farmer and dairyman, having managed Woodruff's dairy in Union, Ore., and also worked for Swan's Dairy in Claremore for many years. He loved to fish, garden and have his family around him. His children and grandchildren were his greatest joy. He was always willing to offer his support and advice whenever needed.

Thaymon was preceded in death by his wife; two sons, Robert and J.D. Johnson; and two grandchildren, Debbie and Alan Johnson. He is survived by his son, Sam and wife Shirley Johnson of Union, Ore., and his three daughters, Louise and Gene Peters of Kent, Wash., Mearlene and Wayne Elliott of Island City, Ore., and Linda and husband Jerry Reed of Claremore; daughter-in-law, DeeAnna Johnson of Coalinga, Calif.; 11 grandchildren, Brenda Payne of Idaho, Cheryl Wood and Terry Johnson, both of California, Crystal Amundson and Steve Hibbeln, both of Washington, Lori Nuquist, David Elliott and Patti Hansen, all of Oregon, Stacy Lemmings of Pryor, Scott Reed of Vinita and Stephanie Hadley of Claremore; 28 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; five siblings, Burnis Johnson of Union, Ore., Thurman Johnson, Lena Johnston, Ona Mae Vaughn and Theda Keeney, all of Springdale, Ark.; many nieces, nephews, Ethel's family and many friends.

Thaymon's sense of humor, hearty laugh, leadership and love will be sorely missed by all his family and all who knew him.
