FROM THE LEWIS COUNTY HERALD:

Oakie Franklin Polley, 84, retired Lewis county farmer, died Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Brown County hospital at Georgetown, Ohio.

For the past several years, Mr. Polley had made his home with his son, Mel Polley, of near Vanceburg, and it was there that he suffered a heart attack Sunday.

Mr. Polley then was removed to the Georgetown hospital and had been in critical condition since his entry there.

He was the son of Jasper and Anna Bivens Polley, born in Lewis County January 1, 1871. He spent most of his lifetime in the area of his birth.

Mr. Polley was a charter member of the Muse's Chapel Methodist church at Quick's Run in Lewis County and his interest in the church was reflected in his activity in its behalf.

Survivors in addition to his son with whom he resided include two more sons and three daughters, Rev. O.J. Polley, of Franklin, Ky.; Ezra Polley, of Georgetown, Ky.; Mrs. Goldie Lawson, of Vanceburg; Mrs. Myrtle Doyle, of Russellville, Ohio; and Mrs Lawrence Neal, of Cincinnati; one brother, Ben Polley, of Quick's Run; two sisters, Mrs. Bert (Ora) Irey and Mrs. Oscar (Ella) McCane of Rushville, Ind.

Funeral services will be conducted from the Muse's Chapel church at 11 a.m. Thursday and burial will follow in the church cemetery.

This obituary was found in my Mother's (Audrey Jewell McCane Raike-Minneman) bible. My Mother is a daughter of Oscar & Ella (Polley) McCane. Oakie was my Grandmother's (Ella Polley McCane) brother.
