Helen Elizabeth Abney Mason
Helen Elizabeth Abney Mason, 89, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009 in Houston after a lengthy illness. She was a longtime member of the Fairhope United Methodist Church, where she was a member of one of the women's circle groups. A few times a year, she played piano in a duet with the church organist at Sunday service, her family said.
She is survived by her children, Robert G. "Butch" Mason Jr. and Mitchell L. Mason, both of Fairhope, and Julie M. DeMaria of Magnolia, Texas; a brother, Louis Oswell Abney of Birmingham; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 15 at the Church Street Inn, 51 S. Church St., Fairhope. Burial will take place at the Fairhope Single Tax Cemetery.
