James C. Walker Funeral Services Are Held Tuesday
James C. Walker, a resident of the Carnegie community since 1938, died Friday in the Carnegie Nursing home after an illness of several years.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist church with Rev. Doc Ramsey, Chickasha, officiating. Interment was in the Carnegie cemetery.
Walker, a retired farmer, was born October 10, 1873, in Mississippi. He was married to Dora Meeks on October 1, 1905, at Merkle, Texas. They had been residents of Caddo county since 1924 and of Carnegie since 1938.
He was converted when 21 years of age under the pastorship of Rev. J. Frank Norris. He united with the church at Groesbeck, Texas, and was a charter member of the Carnegie Missionary Baptist church.
He is survived by his wife of the home; one son, Eldon of Carnegie; four daughters, Mrs. Iroma Mapp, Carnegie, Mrs. Leona Barngrover, Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Claudia Green and Mrs. Gracie Cooper, both of Salinas, Calif.; one sister, Mrs.
Alice Greenwood, Seminole, Texas; 18 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
