IDAHO FALLS, ID -- David Leonard Cousin, 95, of Idaho Falls, died February 14, 2008, at Mount Vernon Assisted Living Center in Idaho Falls. He was under the care of Aspen Home Health and Hospice.

Leonard was born September 24, 1912, in Woodville, Idaho, to David Cousin and Adelia Mangum Cousin. He grew up on the family farm in Woodville. He attended the Taysom Grade School in Woodville.

As a youth, he worked in the outdoors with the family sheepherd and eventually became a sheep rancher himself, which he did for many years. During part of this time he served on the board of directors for the Eastern Idaho Grazing Association. He also won an award from the Goodyear Corporation for his range land conservation efforts.

He married Marie Margaret Miller July 1, 1950 in Jackson, Wyoming.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed reading, taking road trips, and staying informed on world events. Leonard and Marie were partners in everything they did and together loved spending time with their family including grandchildren; Jennifer, Hannah, Larisa, Bryce, Lauren, and Braden.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Cousin of Idaho Falls; children, Steven Cousin of Woodville, Idaho, and Larry (Lisa) Cousin of South Jordan, Utah; sister, Elma Moore of Thatcher, Arizona; brother, Lloyd Cousin of Ammon; and 6 grandchildren. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents and nine brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2008, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge, with Bishop Peter Demitropoulos of the Idaho Falls LDS 2nd Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and for one hour prior to the services on Saturday, both at Wood Funeral Home.

Burial will be in the Shelley-Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) in Idaho Falls.
