Miss Jennie Hegeman was born in Gloversville, N. Y., June 18th, 1853, and moved with her parents to Sparta, Wisconsin, in 1864, and to Brookings, Dakota Territory, in 1878. In 1892 she moved to Brookings [town], and for a number of years has kept house for her brother, J. A. Hegeman. She was a member of the M. E. Church from childhood, and a devout Christian. She was a charter member of the White, S. D., chapter of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by two brothers, J. A. of Brookings, P. J. Hegeman of Pendleton, Oregon; one sister, Mrs. Hendricks, of Dubuque, Iowa, and a niece, Mrs. Dr. [sic] Boyden, of Pendleton, Oregon. The sincere sympathy of the community is extended to the sorrowing relatives.
