She was born in Alabama and lived the remainder of her life in Many, Louisiana. She refused to leave the farm, even to go into town for supplies. She had a low level of education, however, she gave each of her 10 children the name of a U.S. President or royalty. She never wore shoes, made all the family clothes, and cooked all the meals on the fireplace. Those who remember her say she was slow to react, often teased, but loved.
