Delphine Strecansky, 91, of Lansing and formerly of Emmett Township, died Sunday July 13, 2008 at Sparrow Health System, Lansing.
She was born September 20, 1916 the daughter of the late Joseph and Julia Riske Reszka.

She was preceded in death by her husband Tony (1996), her sister Irene, and her brothers Ted and Carl.

She was a housewife and farmer.
She and Tony built their own house and planted fields.
She owned a hotdog stand in the 50's that fostered a myriad of stories. She fought wasps and roosters, and didn't cook very well.

When she was young she wanted to be a stage actress and singer.
She wanted to study physics and astronomy.
Traveling and the world excited her.
She didn't get all she wanted but she played the organ and piano, and if she didn't make the stage she did sing in the choir.
She never lost interest in the sciences and discussed innovations in space and physics until 2 weeks before her death. She visited the world through books and her imagination.
She talked about tap dancing and learning to play the guitar after her 91st birthday.
She LIVED until she died. My Aunt Del.

She is survived by her nephew Carl Reszka.

Her family honors the memory of Delphine and invite you to attend funeral services 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Yale, with 10:00 a.m. visiting. Fr. Paul Czarnota, pastor of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Emmett, will officiate.
