Elisha Green Wilson Sr. was the son of Richard D. Wilson and Mary Rutha Green. He married Elizabeth Hurst on May 1, 1851 in Knox, Ky. He lived in Knox, Ky until about 1867, when he moved to Bell, Ky. He was a farmer and a lawyer. Elisha Sr. also served in the Civil War in Co. F 49th Ky Inf Volunteers. He served as 1st Sergeant for the Union side from May 16, 1863, until December 26, 1864, where he mustered out as a Second Liet. at Camp Nelson, Lexington, Ky.
Elisha's siblings were: Richard III, Robert, Mary Jane, Rutha, Samuel Henry, Nancy, William, Simeon, Isiah Josiah, Cynthia, James, Sarah, John. He had eleven children. They were: Thomas Marshall Calloway, Andrew Jackson, Soloman Sanders, William Elijah, Elisha Green Jr., Sarah Rutha Jane, John, Mary Emily, Franklin Finley, Judge Randall, Squire Branson Wilson, and a Baby Wilson who died in infancy.
