CHARLES BILLS

IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Charles Robert Bills, 84, of Idaho Falls, died July 9, 2008, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

He was born March 6, 1924, in Ucon, Idaho, to William Edward Calvin Bills and Malinda Parlee Harris Bills. He grew up in Ucon and graduated from Ucon High School. He attended Ricks College and the University of Idaho, then graduated from Idaho State University. He served in the U. S. Navy for three years during World War II in the Pacific Theatre.

After the war he met Maurine Felt at Ricks College and they were married July 11, 1947, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. His passion was basketball – he was an All-Star Player in high school and had a successful coaching and teaching career. He coached at Notus High School, Bonneville Junior High School, Snake River High School, where his team took the State Championship, Idaho Falls High School, where his team took two State Championships, and finally at Skyline High School, where his team also won State Championship. He was inducted into the Idaho Hall of Fame. In addition to coaching, he taught math and physical education.

An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as Young Men Advisor and as both first and second counselor in the Bishopric. He spent eight wonderful years as an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple. Charles was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, who loved his family very much.

Son: Paul F. (Jan) Bills, Idaho Falls, ID
Sister: Bernece Swensen, Idaho Falls, ID
15 Grandchildren & 13 Great Grandchildren
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Alma, Arlie, Leslie, Marvin, and Harvey Bills, and three sisters, Lillian Lott, Hattie Browning, and Rosetta McCurdy.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 12, 2008, at the Ammon LDS 15th Ward, 3934 East 49th South, with Bishop Brett Acor officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and Saturday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.

Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
