He was born in Stockland, Ill. on Nov. 22, 1919, to the late Michael H. and Marie C. Donohue Cooley.
Mr. Cooley was educated at Freeland Park School, and served in the Army during World War II.
He farmed for many years and retired from Fowler Rotary Printing at age 78 after 35 years, being the company's oldest retiree.
Mr. Cooley was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fowler and of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brownsville. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, American Legion Post 57, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the 40 & 8 and the Knights of Columbus, all of Fowler.
Surviving are eight children; two brothers, David Cooley (wife: Jean) of Clarks Hill and Paul Cooley of Kissimmee, Fla.; and four sisters, Rita Lundgren of Salt Lake City, Rosemary Budreau of Earl Park, Ruthann Wolfe (husband: Harvey) of Oxford and Jan Flora (husband: Carol) of Delphi.
Also surviving are several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Norbert and Bernard Cooley; 2 brothers in infancy and 2 sisters, Aletha Reifel and Helen Budreau.
