Sylvia A. Kearns, 79, formerly of 2617 W. Bainter Lane in Peoria, passed away at 7:25 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2008, at Heartland Health Care Center of Peoria.

She was born July 16, 1928, in Moline, Ill., to Raymond and Mabel Pierce Alldredge. She married Othmar "Ott" Kearns on Nov. 20, 1948, in Peoria. He passed away on May 5, 1963, in Peoria.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by one daughter, Mary (Paul) Tamkin of Peoria; two sons, Michael (Sara) Kearns of Morton and David Kearns; two grandchildren, Amanda (Aaron) Kilgore and Michael Tamkin; and one great-grandson, Alexander Kilgore.

Sylvia was an information clerk at the Peoria Police Department for many years.

She attended St. Mark's Catholic Church.

A funeral Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Mark's Church, with the Rev. Charles Klamut officiating. Visitation will be 30 minutes before the Mass at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in West Peoria.

Wright & Salmon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
