Addie Rumley, age 85, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 22, 2008 at the Hospice Home. She was a native of Alamance County and the daughter of the late George Andy and Lula Gates Rumley.
Addie was employed for many years with Glen Raven Mills and she later retired from Burlington Industries. She was a member of Glen Raven Baptist Church and a member of the Ruth Thompson Sunday School Class. She was also a faithful member and former chair of the prayer band at the church. Addie was a lady with a sweet smile and gentle spirit and she will be greatly missed by her family, church and community.
Survivors include her nephews, Mark A. Rumley of Graham and Jerry Huffines of Burlington; nieces, Juanita Chambers of Charlotte, Linda Smolen and Patsy Turner both of Burlington; sister-in-law, Carrie P. Rumley of Elon. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Alfred "Monk" Rumley and Jesse W. Rumley; sister, Pearlie Rumley Huffines; nephew, Kenneth Andy Rumley and a niece-in-law, Martha Cobb Rumley.
The funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at the Glen Raven Baptist Church by Pastor Bobby Fann and Rev. Joseph Chambers and the burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery.
