Blackburn Barrett Adkins was the son of Hamilton Adkins and Jane Bragg Lovejoy. He was a brother to Luke G Adkins. He Married Judith Lovejoy and had 11 children

Stated in the filling of the Pension of Luke G Adkins
Lincoln West Virginia January 13 1920
Blackburn Barrett Adkins and Judia states that they helped bury Rebecca Adkins and Judia Adkins states that she was at the bedside when Rebecca Adkins died which was about the year 1873 and was buried at the old Mark Adkins Cemetary on Mud river in Lincoln County West Virginia. August 25 1920 And we also state that Luke G Adkins was married to Laura Plumley his first wife that he divorced; Then married Rebecca Lovejoy his second wife who died; They then state he married his third wife Mary Jane Lucas Tabor and witnessed by John H Adkins and Nora May Adkins wife of their son William Blackburn Adkins. This Cemetery is now known as the Luke Adkins Cemetery.

* WEST VIRGINIA OBITUARY *
March 29 1923 Thur- Mr Blackburn Barrett Adkins died at his home on Horse Shoe Fork of Six Mile Creek, Laurel Hill District on Friday March 23 1923. He was born Aug 24 1835. He was a soldier in the Civil War, serving four years from 1861 to 1865. He married Miss Juda Lovejoy about 55 or 56 years ago and to this union were born ten children, three daughters and seven sons, all of whom survive with his wife. His remains were moved to Big Creek and laid to rest in the Luke Adkins Cemetery on Sunday. Burial services were conducted by the Rev J S Stanley of Merritts Creek and Rev. Vidney of Six Mile.
His son George Washington Adkins was the undertaker.
