Allan O. Covert, 89, went to be in the Lord's care July 10, 2008. A native of Portsmouth, he was the son of the late Glen and Mary Covert. He was retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Allan was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Portsmouth. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lillian Bailey Covert; his daughter, Trudy Covert Webb and husband Hunter of Chesapeake; grandson, Hunter Webb III and wife Nicole of Portsmouth; granddaughter, Suzanne Webb of Arlington, Va., and sister, Betty C. Moody of Portsmouth. He was predeceased by his brother, Norman Covert. A graveside service will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens with Dr. George Oehler officiating. The family will receive friends at Snellings Funeral Home Churchland Chapel Sunday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 515 Court St., Portsmouth, VA 23704.
