Alva Benton Harris,age 63, Died at Memorial Hospital, Hugo Hospital, January 11, 1971,after suffering from, a long bout of, phenomia. He had suffered from Terminal, lung and throat cancer for many years.
He was born to George Dallas and Martha Emaline (Dailey) Harris, on December 24, 1907, in Yeager, Hughes County, Oklahoma. He married Velma McDonald on June 27,1934; they had no children from this marriage.
Later he met and married Elsie Lorene Smith, the Daughter of John Thomas and Ida May (Townsley) Smith, on July 2,1939, in Boswell, Choctaw County, Oklahoma.
Of this union with Elsie Lorene Smith, there 8, children born.
Survivors of the home was his present wife Josephine; which they had one son; not living at home.
He was survived, by his children, from his 2nd marriage, 2 sons and 4 daughters; George Dallas and Dewey L. Harris,of Lawton,Ok.,Geraldine R.Cooper, Mary Jo Lamb, Helen F. Aguilar, Dianna K. Harris and the mother of his Childern.
One son by Josephine, Arthur Harris.
Also, survived by his one brother, Leslie Harris, of Mangum, Oklahoma,a sister ,Ollie Edge, of Soper, Oklahoma, and a sister, Minnie Cravett, of Boswell, Oklahoma.
He was proceeded in death, by his parents, 1(Daughter) infant child, born in Holdenville, Oklahoma,1 son, Alva Jerry Harris, aged 19, in Lawton, Oklahoma,4 sisters and 3 brothers.
Burial, took place, January 12, 1971, at Restland Cemetery, Boswell, Choctaw Co., Oklahoma and He was laid to rest by his parents, and his brother Joseph Sylvester Harris.
