Dorothy G. Lasher, 88, of Melbourne, Fla., formerly of New Kensington and Lower Burrell, died Saturday (June 8, 2002) in her home of an apparent heart attack. Born Sept. 20, 1913, in Tarentum, she lived in Florida since 1995, having previously made her home in Lower Burrell and New Kensington. She was a 1929 graduate of Parnassus High School, New Kensington, and attended the University of Pittsburgh. She also was a graduate of the Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia. Mrs. Lasher was a member of the First Baptist Church in Upper Burrell and the LaCita Country Club in Titusville, Fla. An avid flyer, she was reported to be the first woman in western Pennsylvania to obtain a pilot's license. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Ruth (Lester) Kearney of Titusville, Fla. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Lasher in 2000; her parents, William and Florence Bricker Gravatt; and a sister, Lenore Straub. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. Saturday until a noon service in Greenwood Memorial Park mausoleum, Greenwood Road, Lower Burrell. Her pastor, the Rev. David Hefferan, will officiate. Burial will follow in the mausoleum. Arrangements are being handled by the ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., a family -owned and -operated funeral home, 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, Seventh Street Road, Upper Burrell.

Born September 20, 1913 in Tarentum she had been a resident of Florida since 1995. She was a 1929 graduate of Parnassus High School, attended the University of Pittsburgh and graduated from the Honeman School of Nursing in Philadelphia. She was the first woman in western Pennsylvania to have a pilot license. Mrs. Lasher was a member of the First Baptist Church in Upper Burrell and the LaCita Country Club in Titusville. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Lester (Ruth) Kearney of Titusville; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Lasher was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Lasher in 2000; a sister, Lenore Straub; and her parents, William and Florence Bricker Gravatt. The family will receive friends Saturday, June 15, 2002 from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 12 Noon in Greenwood Memorial Park Mausoleum, Greenwood Road, Lower Burrell, Pa. Her Pastor, the Rev.
