She became a widow in 1930 because Harcanis had a cut on his knee from an axe and it became infected and killed him.
Harcanis owned the Crooked Lake Farm, which was passed on to Cleveland Stewart. Cleveland's widow, Lillie Ethel Riddle Stewart, sold the farm to the State of Indiana and it is now a Nature Preserve, on Crooked Lake, Whitley County, Indiana.
Jennie died during surgery removing gallbladder cancer.
