PATEROS - Daniel J. Vaughn, 86, of Pateros, died Monday, Feb. 27, 1995, in the Harmony House Health Care Center in Brewster.

He was born Jan. 29, 1909, to Joseph and Eva (Stanley) Vaughn, in Ardenvoir where he was raised and educated. He graduated from Sunnyslope High School.

Mr. Vaughn worked as a carpenter as a young man. He later became a chef and worked in Colville, where he moved in 1945, then in Idaho, Kansas City, Kan., and the Sun Mountain Lodge near Winthrop.

He married Helen Pate on June 29, 1968, in Twisp. They moved to Pateros in 1974.

Mr. Vaughn was a member of the Pateros Grange and one of the first members of Eagles Lodge No. 2797 in Colville.

Survivors include his wife, at home; two sons, Dale and Carl, both of Colville; a stepson, Hank Rogers of Twisp; two daughters, Shirley Reed of Jacksonville, Fla., and Helen Hardy of Bradenton, Fla.; two stepdaughters,Eddeane Serfass and Marianne Burns, both of Coos Bay, Ore.; two brothers, Herbert of California and Alfred of Seattle; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
