Mr. Balding was born in Decatur, son of Lewis and Grace Wilkerson Balding Jr. He was a loader at Archer Daniels Midland Co. for 13 years.
Surviving are his son, Joseph D. of Decatur; mother of Decatur; brother, Raymond of Union, N.J.; sisters, Patricia Wilber and Louise Day, both of Decatur; Linda Sparks of Frankfort, Germany.
