On June 5th, 1967, Linda married the love of her life, David Lee Sparks in Decatur, Illinois. They spent the first 22 years of their marriage living in different places due to Dave’s Army service. Whether it be Schofield Barracks, Hawaii or Butzbach, Germany, Linda (a devoted Army wife) always made their house a home. Those homes were full of lifelong friends, neighborhood kids, laughter, and dancing. Put on any kind of music, Linda would find the groove. Pop in for a chat, Linda would put on the coffee. Make a joke, Linda laughed the loudest. Needed a hug, Linda would open her arms and call you honey.
Linda is survived by her children Lorie (Tim) Nell and Tina (Chris) Amestoy, brother and sister in laws, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. We would be remiss in not mentioning the wonderful family at Traditions at Brookside that treated her with love and dignity the past three years.
Besides her parents, Linda is preceded in death by her husband David, sister Patricia Wilber, brothers Larry and Raymond Balding.
A private graveside service will be held Wednesday June 24th, at Camp Butler National Cemetery (5063 Camp Butler Road, Springfield, IL 62707).
Arrangements entrusted to Flanner Buchanan, Indianapolis, IN.
